Tina S Nova, Ph.D.
President & CEO
Tina has extensive experience in the creation of start-up companies and the commercialization of products with a focus on molecular diagnostics. Tina spent 15 years as the co-founder, President and CEO of the publicly-traded company, Genoptix Medical Laboratories, from inception to its acquisition by Novartis Pharmaceuticals in 2011. She has worked for, managed, raised capital and co-founded a number of early-stage innovative biotechnology companies in San Diego including Nanogen, Inc., Ligand Pharmaceuticals and Hybritech, Inc. She graduated in Biochemistry and has a PhD from the University of California Riverside. Tina was named one of the Top 10 Women in Biotech in 2011 by FierceBiotech.
Mike Nerenberg, M.D.
SVP & Chief Medical Officer
A deep technologist, Mike holds an MD from the Yale School of Medicine. He was CMO at Genoptix Medical Laboratories where he was responsible for the creation of the company’s main Compass product offering and established the company’s biopharmaceutical division. A former academic, Mike spent several years on faculty at Scripps Research Institute. He is an inventor on over 22 patents and has over 50 scientific articles published in major journals. Mike was a medical staff fellow at the NIH and a resident in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Brent Vetter, CPA
Senior Director, Finance
Brent has strong analytical skills and a deep knowledge of all aspects of financial support, including budgeting, forecasting, modeling, cost accounting and strategic planning. He has experience working for both private and public companies and most recently held a financial management position at Illumina, Inc. and worked on several large transactions including the spinout of Helix. Prior to that Brent worked at Mobilitie LLC and assisted in raising a $465 million debt facility as well as the strategic sale of the business for $1.1 billion. Brent began his career at KPMG and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.
John Aballi, MBA
Senior Director, Lab Operations
John combines an understanding of laboratory operations and program management skills along with a scientific prowess to create diagnostic products and scale processes. Previously, John held various positions of increasing responsibility at Genoptix Medical Laboratories and oversaw data quality and physician reporting. He has an MBA from Cal Baptist University with a concentration in management.
Yue Zhao, PhD
Yue leads our program in bioinformatics analysis, machine learning, algorithm development and is deeply involved in experimental design. Previously, he held positions at Illumina in Bioinformatics working on technology development in circulating tumor DNA. Yue holds a PhD in Computational Biology from Washington University in St. Louis.

Stephen Hauser, MD

Dr. Hauser is a graduate of MIT and Harvard Medical School, a Robert A. Fishman Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology at UCSF.
Tony Wyss-Coray, PhD
Dr. Wyss-Coray is a professor of neurology at Stanford University, & co-director of the Stanford Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, associate director of the Center for Tissue Regeneration at the Palo Alto VA.
Barbara Bierer, MD
Harvard Medical School
Dr. Bierer is a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, and a hematologist/oncologist. She is also the faculty co-chair of the Multi-Regional Clinical Trials Center at Harvard.
Arthur Weiss, MD, PhD

Paul Pockros, MD
Director of the Liver Disease Center of the division of gastroenterology/hepatology at Scripps Clinic and clinical director of research at the Scripps Clinic Liver Translational Science Institute.
Darren Sigal, MD
Division of hematology/oncology at Scripps Clinic and head of its gastrointestinal cancer section. Dr. Sigal has a particular interest in pancreatic cancer, helping develop a multidisciplinary pancreatic and biliary cancer program at Scripps.
